Welcome to St Nicholas’ Church
Our church is very friendly and dynamic offering a warm welcome to both newcomers and visitors. The cycle of services (see the page below) offers a variety of liturgical forms and central to all services is to ensure the young, very young and families are well catered for – so if you are new please come and meet us and introduce yourself! And please note that the church is unlocked and accessible during the day.
St Nicholas’ Church is a central part of our thriving community sitting in the heart of the old part of the village with our primary school, the village hall, local shop and pub all within a few yards.
Cuddington is one of five parishes in the Wychert Vale Benefice, which includes the parishes of Haddenham, Cuddington, Kingsey, Stone with Dinton & Hartwell and Aston Sandford. There is a full team of both clergy and lay members which covers all aspects of running and administering the benefice www.wychertvale.org
The running of St Nicholas is undertaken by members of the congregation, its church wardens, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and the Benefice Office in Haddenham, which supports the administration of weddings, funerals and baptisms. The congregation at St Nicholas
Congregations usually number more than 40 at each 10.00am service, although this can increase to 80 for Family Services. The church electoral roll is made up of about 60 members, several of whom live outside Cuddington. Clearly quite a number of people from outside the village are attracted to the type of services held here, and we believe they are also encouraged by the friendly welcome of the congregation.

Children
The bringing up of children in the Christian tradition is very important to us. At the 10 o'clock services facilities are available for special teaching for children either in the service or in the bernard Hall opposit the church building. There is an area within the church itself provided for parents with toddlers.
Prayer
In the Notice Sheets prepared for each Sunday service there is a list of those for whom prayer has been specifically requested. Anyone can request prayer when they have a need.
Architectural Heritage
There has been a church on this site since at least the late 11th century and there is a record of the incumbents from 1086 on the south wall of the church.
There have been three major stages of development, which broadly cover the Medieval, Victorian and Modern periods. and further details may be obtained in Church History or Architectural Heritage.

Sunday Services @ 10am
Worship for all at St Nicholas’ Cuddington
We aim to enable all people to worship with us, however old or young and whatever our taste in music. Please join us.
We join together for worship every Sunday. Some Sundays we continue together for a family service or all-age Holy Communion. Other Sundays we join in worship before children and some young people head for the Bernard Hall to re-join for the closing song.

Planned Giving Scheme
The Planned Giving Scheme (PGS) was adopted by St Nicholas in 2017 as being a very effective way for parishioners to contribute and give to the church . The key points are:
- Payments to the church are automatically made by Direct Debit
- Payments may be made anonymously
- The amount pledged can be index linked to inflation
- Gift Aid is re-claimed automatically
- It is easy to both set up and change at any time
By joining the scheme the task of collecting contributions is made so much easier for our Treasurer and knowing what income is pre-planned and Gift Aided helps in the accounting process.

There are some PGS leaflets, enclosing a gift form at the back of the church if you prefer a paper copy. The church accounts are always made available at the annual meeting and can be requested at any time.
Use of the Church Building
The church building is not only used for Sunday worship, but is also available for other activities. Since the refurbishment, the improvement in acoustics have made it a very suitable venue for musical concerts, and the introduction of audio/visual facilities have rendered it appropriate for a number of different functions,e.g. seminars, presentations etc. (Please click the Contacts tab at the top of this page.)
